One of Amsterdam’s newer hotels is called Hotel V and is located on Nes – a small central back street. They have a lovely restaurant called The Lobby where we had a good breakfast and we’re reliably informed that lunch and dinner are even better. Its smallish with a wood fire, a library and a little terrace which Marc says is wonderful for a quiet coffee away from some of the less salubrious tourists flowing down Rokin from Dam Square. As it is part of a hotel, the clientele is typically made up of visitors as well as a few locals. Good for a intimate dinner, a fireside snuggle in Winter, or a drink or three at the bar.
