Bar Moustache is one of those spots that makes you wish you were a local and could rock up with the Sunday papers and settle down for a few hours. Located on the buzzing Utrechtstraat, it’s a chilled place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The interior is furnished with mismatched vintage tables, the lighting is soft and the flowers fresh. More importantly with opening hours from 8am to 3am, great food, a lovely bar and cosy corners mixed up with sharing tables you can drop in any time for a coffee, a glass of prosecco or something more substantial.
We love the round table in the window, the friendly service, and the menu which features the kind of food that fills any gap, big or small. In Winter, candles flicker invitingly; in Summer the action spills outside – the windows are pushed up and cushions are placed on the sills where the city’s blonde beauties dangle tanned legs onto the benches below. Coffee is served Dutch-style with something small on the side (a home-made biscuit or a mini crimson macaroon), and the crowd is generally Dutch-cool. If you’re heading there in the evening (or even for lunch) call ahead to book. This is a popular place and its easy to see why.
