Located on one of the most gorgeous spots on the Prinsengracht lies the ever-popular Buffet van Odette, the perfect place to enjoy a morning bite, a healthy lunch or even a spot of dinner.
For over 20 years, this Amsterdam favourite has been dishing up crowd-pleasing food to ladies who lunch. In Winter enjoy the lovely tiled interior with its mellow lighting, but at the first sign of Spring, those in the know head out onto the small terrace for one of the City’s loveliest views. Food-wise they’re supplied by local farms and the best bakers and coffee suppliers around.
For breakfast you simply have to try the grapefruit brûlée or truffle cheese omelette for which they’re rightly famous. For lunch, opt for the lovely salad selection from the buffet, or enjoy their soups, quiches and sandwiches. Dinner favourites include cockles and vongole and their legendary mushroom ravioli.
Buffet van Odette is a firm favourite on the Amsterdam dining scene. Walk-ins are welcome if there’s space, but best to book ahead if you want to be sure of a spot.
Breaking news: The guys behind Buffet van Odette have just opened what looks like an absolutely stunning couple of rooms which they call “Bed and Buffet“. The idea of rolling out of bed in the morning for breakfast at BvO sounds like a winner to us! It’s top of our must-try list for next time.
