Sticky Fingers

Sticky Fingers is another cafe whose success can primarily be attributed to Instagram.  Having only been open for a matter of weeks, bloggers armed with smartphones have been hitting this fairly low key location on the Amstelveensweg looking for the perfect selfie up against their dreamily photogenic pink tiled wall.

And you’ll have to fight to grab a spot.  The three perfect red stools are often occupied by beautiful blondes perfecting their pouts, but if you you fail to get into the hot-seat you can always pull up a chair at one of the more roomy tables and counter-watch as #blondesofinstagram rock up for a coffee.

The cafe is actually part of a hotel called The Tire Station (in reference to it’s location in a former tire factory).  It’s part of the Conscious Hotel Group whose philosophy is based around “eco design principles”.  Whilst the ingredients are all organic, the truth is most customers are simply stopping by to snap a shot of their gorgeous service counter and wolf down a little pink patisserie.

And rather delish they are too.  From delicate raspberry bavarois tartlets to lemon meringue pies, banoffee cakelets, pear patisseries and chocolate kisses (each with a perfectly shaped quenelle) you’ll be hard pushed to leave your camera-phone alone.  If you do though, you’ll be rewarded with pastries that really do taste as good as they look and you can always walk it off with a brisk march through the nearby Vondelpark to get your fitbit bleeping again.
