Family Sunday’s at Jansz in The Pulitzer Hotel

On our most recent trip to Amsterdam, we were lucky enough to be invited to to a Jansz Family Sunday at The Pulitzer Hotel – the perfect way to spend a easy weekend afternoon with the kids.

The concept is brilliant.  Head to one of Amsterdam’s most wonderful and best located hotels for early evening dinner, safe in the knowledge that restless children will be fed and fully entertained whilst you relax and enjoy great food in a perfect setting.

Family Sundays take place on the last Sunday of the month between 4.30 and 6.30.  The restaurant is quiet at this time, so despite the glorious room there’s no need to shush squeaky little ones.

Best of all, in the beautiful upstairs Copper Rooms, were two wonderful babysitters, ready to entertain our boys.  The room was set up with games, train tracks, balloons, balloon animals, a screening of Frozen and best of all warm and welcoming smiles.  Our eldest son Oscar, often shy in new situations and not a fan of holiday kids’ clubs, couldn’t rave about them enough.  Indeed he was desperate to find out their names after so he could write them a thank you.

With such a relaxed atmosphere children are able to pop up and downstairs freely, before, after and even during the meal.  It’s lovely to see such a beautiful hotel embracing children.  As parents there is so often a trade-off and we are always on the hunt for hip/cool/quality places that are a pleasure for us as well as our boys.

Food-wise, the menu is great with both mains and desserts proving a huge hit and knowing it is a family session, the waiters and waitresses are incredibly relaxed and easygoing, unphased by the coming and going.

The day we visited was the hottest of the year and our boys were even able to wander outside, exploring The Pulitzer’s fantastic and child-friendly gardens, as well as taking a look at the boats passing by on one of the city’s most beautiful canal corners right at the heart of the 9 Streets.

Our kids gave it a huge thumbs up, they can’t wait to head back.

Truth is – nor can we.
