There is an abundance of choice for accommodation in Amsterdam. From old-school classics, to a bevy of boutique hotels in canal houses and a sudden explosion of International arrivals such as the new W.
Check out newish openings such as the De Hallen Hotel based in an old tram depot, now converted into a hip cultural complex.
There’s also the boutique Sir Adam in the refurbished A’DAM tower targeting music junkies as well as the gorgeous Sir Albert on the edge of The Pijp.
Positioning itself at the slightly more affordable end of the market are the NH Hotels, of which there are quite a few around the city.
We’ve also heard the Art’otel and Estherea receive a good deal of love.
Looking for something more homely? The guys behind Buffet van Odette have just opened a couple of stunning rooms they’re calling “Bed and Buffet“. The idea of rolling out of bed in the morning for breakfast at BvO sounds like a winner.
And don’t forget about Airbnb who have some stunning Central Amsterdam properties on their books (pictured) that will make you feel like a (well-heeled) local. Our dream is to own one one day.
Finally, if you are looking for a comprehensive list of “Best Hotels in Amsterdam”, The Telegraph offer a very good summary and though we clearly haven’t visited them all, it’s hard to argue with their rankings at a first glance.
