For weekend brunch, start queuing early at the ever popular Bakers and Roasters in the Pijp. They have a second, newer branch in Centrum, but it’s the original branch you want to head to.
Billed as a New Zealand style cafe with a dose of Brazil, it gathers rave reviews from visitors to the city, but locals are thin on the ground. Whilst I wouldn’t rate it as the very best breakfast in town (nor as the most Dutch!) the staff are super-friendly, it has a really good buzz and the generous portions are pretty damn tasty.
